Privacy
This page explains what happens to the details you give us when you join the SCHIST waitlist. We follow the Privacy Act 2020.
Who we are
SCHIST is a small business in Cromwell, Central Otago, making 3D-printed topographic tiles. SCHIST is a trading name of Coalition Limited, a company registered in New Zealand (company number 9345855, NZBN 9429052874758). When this page says "we", it means SCHIST and Coalition Limited.
What we collect
- Your first name.
- Your email address.
- That you ticked the box to say you're 16 or older, or that a parent says it's OK.
- The date and time you joined.
We don't ask for your address, phone number or payment details on the waitlist.
If you pre-order a tile, we also keep your full name, email address, phone number if you give it, the design you chose, your invoice number and amounts, and the date. We use these only to make, invoice and deliver your order and to contact you about it. We ask for your delivery address later, when the balance is due. You pay by bank transfer, so we never see your card details.
Why we collect it
Only to tell you when the tiles go on sale and send you launch news about it. By joining, you agree to us emailing you for that. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can reply "stop" to any of them. We won't use your details for anything else, and we never sell or share them.
Where it's stored
The waitlist is held by our database provider, Supabase, on servers in Sydney, Australia. Australian privacy law gives protections comparable to New Zealand's. The website can only add names to the list; nobody visiting the site can read it.
How long we keep it
We delete the waitlist within 12 months of the tiles' first sale. If you pre-order or buy from us, we keep the order and invoice details for 7 years, as New Zealand tax law requires.
What the website itself uses
The site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser remembers that you've joined, so you don't see the form twice; clearing your browser data removes that. Fonts load from Google Fonts and the 3D viewer's code loads from jsDelivr, so those services see your device's internet address, as with any website that uses them.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it at any time. Reply to any email from us and we'll do it within 20 working days, usually much sooner.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
